Join us on an exciting journey through the evolution of American culture!
The Magna Carta: We will take you back to the spot along the river Thames at Runnymede where King John (yes, the fellow who was more famous as Prince John), in 1215 AD, was forced to acknowledge the rights of men as were secured over centuries of conflict. Those same rights became a basis for our Declaration of Independence.
Seeking Freedom: We will let the descendants of those who came to the New World seeking freedom tell the stories of their ancestors who came here over the past four centuries. People from fur trappers in the 1600’s to slaves in the 1700’s.
Rebels Become Americans: We were just Brits who lived in the New World, or so we thought. When did we realize “We are Americans!”? We will watch as the events of the mid-1700’s made us realize that we were indeed different people than those back in “the old country”.
Defining American Freedom: You will watch as people such as G. Washington, Adams, Madison, Franklin and others debate and shape our new Freedom document; The Constitution of the United States of America.
We will be utilizing high quality video from the History Channel and will have available some great, easy reading books that will illustrate the regular folks who all contributed to becoming America.
We conduct monthly meetings and for the ‘25/’26 season going into America’s 250th Anniversary in July 2026, we will celebrate what makes America great, culminating with an opportunity to sign our Declaration of Liberty at a summer picnic.
